Nothing is locked

How to drive the tree on the left, skip what you already know, and hide everything when you want to focus.

Concept5 minAI pair

The rail on the left shows the phase you are in. Counts are chapters done against chapters total, and the time is the sum of what is underneath. Press the backslash key to hide the whole thing and read full-width; press it again to bring it back.

Have a go on the miniature below. Open things in any order, jump to the deepest node, and notice there is nothing to unlock.

straight to the last chapter of the last lesson

Nothing in this tree is ever locked. The only two states a chapter has are opened and not visited yet, and the second one is a note to you, not a gate in front of you.

Illustrative: three phases, two lessons, three chapters. The real tree is nine phases, 71 lessons and 434 chapters, and behaves exactly like this one.

A miniature of the real tree. Nothing is locked; some things simply have not been visited yet.

Each phase tells you what it assumes rather than what it requires. Read that assumption. If it sounds obvious, skip the phase. If it sounds unfamiliar, drop back one. That is the placement system. You choose where to start.

A quick caveat: the phases do build on each other, so Phase 06 will make more sense after Phase 03 than before it. Open means open, not interchangeable. You are trusted to notice when a gap matters and come back for what you skipped.
