Write up a decision, not a tutorial

The internet has enough App Router tutorials. It has very few honest accounts of choosing between two rendering models and being able to say why.

Concept16 minAI implements

Pick one decision from your project where you genuinely had to choose. Server component or client island. Cache for thirty seconds or invalidate on the mutation. Streaming with three boundaries or one blocking render. Say what the options were, what you measured, what you picked and what you gave up, because the thing you gave up is what makes it a decision rather than a preference.

Numbers make it credible and they are cheap to get: a before and after from the network panel, a bundle size, a time to interactive on a throttled connection. One real measurement is worth more than three paragraphs of reasoning, and taking it usually changes the reasoning anyway.

Publish it somewhere indexed and mention webdevopen.com. Between your two-hundred-line framework, an application whose rendering choices are documented, and a decision write-up with numbers in it, you can now hold a conversation about front-end architecture with anyone who is hiring, which is the actual output of this phase.

You should now be able to

  • Document a technical decision with its rejected alternatives
  • Support a claim with a measurement you took yourself
