Writing up something visual
The budget you set, the number you missed, and what you changed. Nobody needs another post explaining what a scene graph is.
The write-up that gets read has numbers in it. The budget you set, the first measurement, what was over, what you did, and the measurement afterwards. Before-and-after on a phone is more persuasive than any adjective, and it is evidence that you can hold a constraint rather than admire one.
Say the thing you got wrong. The texture set that turned out to be 90MB on the GPU, the aspect ratio you did not notice for a week, the camera path that made someone feel sick. It is more interesting than a feature list and it is the part that reads as someone who has actually shipped 3D rather than followed a tutorial.
You should now be able to
- Write a build log with real numbers in it
- Describe a tradeoff you made and what it cost
