Your course data is not in a cookie.

Everything this site remembers about your learning is kept in your browser's own storage, which never travels with a request and never reaches us. Two cookies exist, and neither of them follows you anywhere.

Browser storage, which is not cookies

The difference matters and is not pedantry. A cookie is attached to every single request your browser makes to the site, so it is sent to a server whether or not anybody wanted it. Local storage is not: it sits on your machine and is only read by the page itself.

Four keys, and this is all of them:

  • wdo-progress
Which chapters you have opened and finished.
  • wdo-appearance
Light or dark, which palette, and any colours you tuned.
  • wdo-plan
Your calendar: start date, rhythm, and any lesson you dragged.
  • wdo-free-notice
That you have already dismissed the notice at the top.

Clearing site data in your browser deletes the lot. You lose your progress and your theme, and nothing else happens.

The cookies that do exist

A sign-in session. Set only once you sign in, by Supabase, so that the next page you open knows it is still you. Strictly necessary: without it, signing in would not survive a click. Signing out removes it.

Visit counts. Google Analytics sets a first-party cookie to tell a returning visit from a new one, so we can see which chapters people actually read. It is not linked to your account, it is not used for advertising, and it is not shared with anyone for any purpose beyond counting.

That is the complete list. No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, no pixels, no fingerprinting, nothing sold to anybody.

Turning them off

Any browser can block cookies for this site, and any tracker blocker will stop the analytics one. The site works either way; only sign-in needs its cookie, and if you block that you can still read phase 00 and play every game.

There is no consent banner here because there is nothing to consent to that a setting in your own browser does not already control. Questions to webdev@theopenbootcamp.com, and the fuller picture is on the privacy page.
